The peace Foundation 평화재단

we are striving toward creating peaceful world
In 1998, we began as a group researching a peace regime and the measures for its establishment on the Korean Peninsula. In 2004, we launched the non-profit private think tank the “Peace Foundation” with the goal of achieving permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula and alleviating the pain of division.

The Foundation’s main areas of work are peace research, peace education, and peace movements.

INTRODUCTION

The Peace Foundation

First, peace research
includes Current Affairs Bulletin, Expert Forum, overseas policy exchanges, international symposiums, and the Peace 2.0 Forum. In March 2023, the Foundation published the 300th issue of Current Affairs Bulletin, which presents comprehensive diagnoses and solutions by experts on current issues in the diplomatic and security fields of North and South Korea. Since 2023, the "Peace 2.0 Forum" has been establishing a joint research network with universities and research institutions in various regions including Busan, Gwangju, and Daejeon.
Second, for peace education,
we have been conducting educational programs, including the Peace Leadership Academy, Women’s Leadership Academy, Youth Leadership Academy, Undergraduate Leadership Academy, and Citizens Education Forum to cultivate and nurture democratic citizens who will serve as leaders in various fields in the peace movement. Since 2017, we have developed the "Happiness School with Ven. Pomnyun Sunim" and the Happy Citizens Leadership Training program, promoting nationwide happiness initiatives that anyone can participate in from anywhere.
Third, for the peace movement,
on June 17, 2013, we founded the citizen group, “Korean Minutemen for Peaceful Unification (KMPU),” which operates as a 100 percent volunteer organization centered on alumni of the Peace Leadership Academy and Women's Leadership Academy. It is conducting various unification and peace movements at home and abroad, including the KMPU School and the Korean Peninsula Peace Campaign. Under the Peace Foundation, two mass organizations are active: the Happy Citizens Movement Headquarters in charge of the national happiness movement and the KMPU in charge of peace and unification movements on the Korean Peninsula.

2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the Peace Foundation.
Remaining true to our initial aspirations over the past 20 years,

the Peace Foundation will continue to work tirelessly to create a peaceful world
by gathering national consensus to end wars and structural violence in this country,
without being biased toward any particular idea, ideology, or political party.

We ask for your continued support and interest in the future.
