INTRODUCTION

Peace Activities

The Peace Foundation engages in domestic and international activities and online campaigns for peace on the Korean Peninsula and national happiness, working with citizens who aspire to “peace” and “national unity.”

Its subsidiary organization, “Ushering in a New Century – Korean Minutemen for Peace and Unification (KMPU),” is dedicated to the peace unification movement, while the “Happiness Movement Headquarters” runs the Happiness School and the Happiness Citizens Group, experimenting with various initiatives to promote national happiness.

Overseas Peace Policy Exchange and Networking

Since the establishment of the Peace Foundation, Ven. Pomnyun Sunim, the Chairperson of the Peace Foundation, has dedicated himself to overseas exchanges and networking for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Every year, he meets with U.S. government officials, members of Congress, think tank researchers, and NGOs to continue policy exchanges for humanitarian aid to North Korea and peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Inter-religious Cooperation for Reconciliation and International Peace Advocacy

The Peace Foundation supports “Inter-religious Network for Peace and Reconciliation of the Korean Peninsula” which pursues inter-religious reconciliation and cooperation.  It also makes efforts to create public opinion from all walks of life to oppose war and urge peace whenever the crisis of war on the Korean Peninsula escalates.

Global Peace Campaigns

The Peace Foundation has conducted various peace movements at home and abroad, including the Korean Peninsula Peace Campaign and White House petitions. In 2017, we held the “Citizen Peace Action on the occasion of Trump's visit to Korea” rally, one-person peace picket actions and peace citizen rallies in 104 cities in Korea and 32 cities in 8 countries overseas, and hosted the 2018 Korean Peninsula Peace Rally with 15,000 people gathered in Gwanghwamun Square on December 23. In March 2018, we launched a campaign promoting a petition to the White House calling for “A Peace Treaty on the Korean Peninsula”, which garnered over 100,000 signatures in 26 days and encouraged people to participate in a letter-writing campaign to urge President Trump and members of the U.S. Congress to support peace on the Korean Peninsula.
